  1. Use the try me out boot to make a test purchase and see how the purchase goes through

    6. title of the shopping cart (very important without this the shopping cart title, it won't be visible to the public)

    9. credit cards accepted (not necessary, delete cards in the box if you do not want to accept them)

    10. shipping charge, whether by weight or by price

    11. store front page

    12. return link URL

    I would recommend you only to the basics to start, namely 1 - 6 and leave the rest until later. Once you log in to see how the cart works you get a better idea of how to edit the store front page and return link URL. Just do not forget to put the title of the shopping cart as this cannot be undone later and if you do not put this first time your cart won't be shown on the cart list page.

  3. now to add products to your store choose Edit from the main menu

  4. enter username, email address and password

  5. set taxes shipping schedules, payments, other user preferences

    1. We strongly recommend you use Paypal for direct payment from the cart, 

    2. if you allow credit cards please prompt buyers to ring you with the details or fax those to you as the cart pages are not secure. We can reach an agreement whereby we passeord protect the credit card payment information customers leave when they shop with you, please contact us about that.

  6. add products to your store with pictures (please note the picture sizes have to be pre-defined, when you create the pictures you have to create them in the correct sizes to be uploaded as the program will not resize them. We recommend ca 100 x 100 for thumbnail and ca 300x300 for the large size picture.

    1. you can set several options per product and price ranges

  7. to make changes to the shop enter the section at the bottom of the edit screen and you can alter existing listings, delete listings, view orders, view shipped orders.

  8. Please note that we will have to delete carts, which contain illegal or immoral content. You are responsible for the content and all legal requirements of your sale.

  9. Advertise your store 

    1. in our directory we simply ask you to link back to us.

    2. state on your stationery and tell your friends

    3. You can purchase an optional featured store listing on the front of the store, that's will instantly display all your products listed, even if that is several pages long. But you could display a link to this listing on your own web space completely free of charge.

  10. Within the store you can create your own message page, which appears as footer on all listings and even on cart totals, which will be seen by the customer once he bought your product and links to his cart purchase on-line. Please enter your contact information here, so that when the customer links to the cart purchase page, your contact information will be displayed there. It puts people off from buying if they do not know whom they are dealing with. And you do not have anything to hide do you?

  11. You can create links to products within your store on this page like

A nice feature of this program is the ability to link to any product or product category externally or internally.  Once your store is created when you visit the products listed you can note the URL address of the display pages and use this as link to your products from any other web site. A sample link would look like this:

"action=link" tells the program that this is a direct link and "sku=25" tells it which product to display.  sku stands for Stock Keeping Unit and a sku number is a unique identifier for each product in the store.
Below is a sample of how to link to a product category:
<a href="store.cgi?action=search&category=shoes">All Shoes</a>
"action=search" tells the program that this is a search across the products in the store. 
"category=shoes" tells the program that it's search should only display products in the "shoes" category.
