Metropolitan Police Service

launches the new Met Contact Number -

 0300 123 1212

The Metropolitan Police Service today, 14 October, launched a new telephone number for use in all non-emergency situations. The new number - 0300 123 1212 - should be used when people in London need to contact the MPS and it is not an emergency.

National ID Fraud Prevention week

National Identity Fraud Prevention Week is a nationwide awareness campaign designed to help you protect yourself and your business from identity fraud, one of the UK's fastest growing crimes.

This year the campaign is being supported by the BBC's Adrian Chiles. I am pleased to lend my support to National Identity Fraud Prevention Week.

I would like to encourage readers to report online crime directly to the

Internet Watch Foundation, this especially so in the event that users come across illegal child abuse on web sites.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team is not a 24-hour emergency response team.

999 should always be used if there is any danger, or risk to life, or a crime is in progress.

If you have information about crime in your area and you’d rather not speak to the police, you can give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity
We are very pleased to hear that our council commits an extra £600.000 per annum to deploy an extra 17 police officers on the beat for a minimum of two years. Also very welcome are the enforcement days, crackdown on drug dealing and a target to arrest a minimum of 365 drug dealers per year, that is one for each day.
